Key Features

  • Versatile Use: Ideal for highlighting raised stencils, wood carvings, trim, and revitalizing old hardware and knobs.
  • Self-Sealing: Once fully cured, the wax seals itself.

How to Apply

  1. Prep the Surface: Ensure your painted piece is completely dry or that unpainted surfaces are cleaned.
  2. Apply in Thin Coats: Using your finger, a soft lint-free cloth, or an artist brush, gently rub the wax onto the raised details or edges.
  3. Dry and Buff: Let the wax air-dry for 30 to 60 minutes. For a brilliant, metallic shine, lightly buff the surface after 12 hours.

Important Tips

  • No Topcoat Needed: Because it cures entirely on its own, you do not need to apply a topcoat over the wax.
  • If it Dries Out: Being oil-based, if your wax dries out in the tin, you can restore its creamy consistency by mixing in a few drops of paint thinner or mineral spirits.
  • Fixing Mistakes: Wipe away any excess immediately, as it becomes quite permanent after it sets.

Due to the formulation of Gilding Wax, the product may naturally release gases when stored unopened for an extended period. This can create slight pressure inside the container and may cause the lid to pop when opened. To help prevent this, we recommend opening the can occasionally to allow any built-up gases to release.
