This is step 1 to creating either a copper patina effect or the rusted iron look.
The revolutionary Acid Blocking Primer is a unique water base, acrylic primer designed to block the Metal Effects Patina Aging Solutions & Activators from reaching the metal or wood surface chosen as a substrate.
Other primers cannot be used because they allow the Patina Aging Solutions & Activators to penetrate through to the substrate which can RUIN the piece you are working on by damaging the finish by bringing either rust or tannic acids to the surface.
Acid Blocking Primer can be applied using a brush, roller or spray equipment and is suitable for interior/exterior surfaces.
Since you will be using a lot of liquid with this whole process, when working on a flat surface, take your brush and lightly create a "dam" around the outer perimeter with this acid blocking primer to hold the aging solutions or rust patina aging solution from dripping off.
Two uniform coats are typically necessary. Painting this on thick is not necessary- and in fact- you should not do it at all. Each coat will dry about in 30 minutes or so.
Again- if you are using Modern Masters to create an effect that looks like weathered copper or rusted iron- you must use this as your base!
We are sorry – there are NO RETURNs when it comes to paint products.
With that said- we apologize for any issues this may cause. Choose wisely and do not spontaneously purchase a color or product if unsure. OK? In fact- if you need help in deciding- ask us. We are here to help you! : ) 585-750-6056
